- I think you need to ignore your friend. Learning C, pascal, asm, C++,
- or any other reasonable lower level language will give you a good solid
- understanding of how your machine works, regardless of whether it's "the
- language". Once you know one good computer language, learning others is
- fairly simple. Not to mention the fact that you might find yourself
- waiting forever for a "new language" to come along, when you could be
- happily programming in C.
